Darryl Edward Strohl was born February 23rd, 1970 to Wayne & Linda Strohl. He grew up in a Virginia Beach, VA suburb and enjoyed bike riding and kick ball with neighborhood boys. In school, Darryl excelled in academics, band, and theatre. He went to college for Dance, but ultimately received a B.S. in Psychology. Graduate school led Darryl to Davis, CA, where he earned an M.A. in Psychology. He withdrew from his Ph. D. program to work with people with Autism and Mental Retardation, while indulging his passion for theatre as a hobby. Meanwhile, Estaban was helping others as an in-home health aid while indulging his passion for cars.
And then in April 2011, Darryl and Estaban showed up at the same party, hosted by mutual friend Brian Bentzen. With just a quick glance, they were immediately smitten. A month of sustained eye contact and engaging conversations later, Estaban claimed Darryl as “mine”, they began dating, and continued to experience and celebrate each other’s’ eccentricities. Over the next two years darryl met the Bacas & De Herreras. Wayne & Linda came west for two visits, the 2nd time staying at Veronica’s house. Darryl & Estaban were both so pleased at how the four parents enjoyed each other’s company.
In March 2013 they registered as Domestic partners and in June 2013 got their own place together.
December 2013 Estaban & Veronica traveled with darryl to PA, met the rest of the Strohl family, and the couple decided to make it official. |
