I said yes! Okay, I know I’m not supposed to start at the end, but I’m too excited. I have been waiting patiently (yeah right!) for a year for this! And at the same time, I had no idea this was going to happen!

We went to Colorado Springs for vacation: Brittany, our son, and me loaded up and drove the 12 hours there. We love Colorado; it’s beautiful. Anyway, after two full days of activities, we decided to make the drive to Royal Gorge. She knew what would happen there, and so did our son. Y’all, they were in kahoots! Later, after she proposed, she told me she was so nervous, and he was so sweet and supportive. He was giving her “you can do it” high fives. Awe, right?

So, the proposal. We got to Royal Gorge, and there was this lookout that was kind of private. It jutted out about 20 feet from the side, but there was nothing below but the Arkansas river. Our son said he was going to take our picture, and I was checking out the view. I was just in awe of everything. The gorge, the river, the bridge, and the other mountains within view. I turned around to pose for the photo, and I saw Britt was going to a knee. I thought she was stretching. Insert eye roll here, right? When I realized what was happening, I lost my breath. She said “will you marry me,” and I said YES! I didn't really start this story at the end; it's just the beginning.
