Jon and I met June 2010 in a night time Humanities class at Florida State College of Jacksonville. On the first night of class he choose to sit next to me even though no one else had showed up yet. As the weeks went by we stayed after class just talking and getting to know each other. He would tell me about his experience in his Marine Corps Reserve unit back in California and I would talk about writing and music.
When the semester came to a close, our communication ended as well except for Happy Birthday messages or Holiday Greetings on each others Facebook wall.
One afternoon the following May I recieved an email from him (I assume out of boredom). We were talking about motorcycles, I had only riden on one once years ago and had been thinking about getting my license but wanted to make sure I really enjoyed it. Jon offered to take me riding that upcoming Saturday since he has a motorcycle.
Well when that day came he went through the basics, made sure my helmet was snug and had me wear his riding vest. We started off just going through residential streets, then contiously progress and before we knew it we were cruising down A1A on our way to St. Augustine.
We enjoyed a good dinner at the Mill Top Tavern. We made plans to come back down the following Saturday. Which ended up happening every weekend that summer. We had become inseparable.
Over the next two and a half years, we moved in together, both got promotions at work, addopeted two kittens named Bonnie and Clyde, went on three cruies, bought a house, and adopted two more kittens named Starsky and Hutch. Needless to say the time flew by quickly and we had many discussion about taking the next step in our relationship, I was all for it but Jon seemed to still have some reservations.
Then on September 21, 2013 we were boarding the Carnival Paradise for another cruise, out of Tampa to the Cayman Islands and to Mexico. As the ship was pulling away from the dock, we made our way to the bow. Jon asked a couple next to us to take a few pictures when Jon surprised me by getting down on one knee and pulling out a ring. Well it is obvious I said YES!
