Our story starts in the summer of 2015 during our year of service with Americorps' City Year program. Alex had recently moved to Sacramento from Connecticut and Avery had just moved back into the area to start his year of service. On her first day of work, Alex heard Avery's laugh from across the room and knew instantly he was someone she needed to be friends with. 

Alex didn't know it yet, but Avery was also interested in getting to know her better as well. When Avery learned that Alex didn't have a car that first year, he saw his chance and offered to carpool with Alex to work. Rides to work slowly turned into rides to grab a bit to eat or head to an open mic, and we started spending more and more time together. Our friendship took off quickly and those first few months in Sacramento were spent exploring the city, going to open mics, taking midnight trips to San Francisco, and going to eat at Chipotle (even though Avery doesn't even like Chipotle).

We started dating in October 2015, and the rest is history.

Over the past few years we've built a life together filled with big laughs, lots of travel, puppy cuddles, and, of course, love.

In the summer of 2018, Avery popped the question on a cruise to Mexico during karaoke. For our wedding, we wanted to embrace our love of travel, and knew that another cruise would be the perfect fit.
