Whilst working at Next Braehead, Ryan noticed the beautiful and funny Katie, a girl who he found himself wanting to spend more and more time with if he could! A blossoming friendship developed through their shared trials in work, shared love of David Bowie and shared asthma triggered by exercise! Whilst finding himself texting his new work friend more and more, Ryan asked his best man Nicholas Neil how he should go about snaring the girl of his dreams. Breaking up with his current girlfriend was probably the first step according to Nic, and once achieved, Mr Neil, on a night out in that classiest of Glasgow night venues, Campus Bar, swooped and used Ryan's phone to text that all important question, "Would you like to go out sometime?"

Agreeing to a first date, Katie did have doubts throughout, especially based on Ryan's restaurant choice (Pizza Hut), movie choice (Zack and Miri Make a....er nevermind) and bar choice (Who doesn't like a Weatherspoons?). Thankfully Ryan's charm won through, with his personality balancing out poor dating skills. A regular dating schedule emerged and progressed 4 years later into the big move, where Dr Devlin and Miss Baron shared their own flat home in Renfrew.
